During this very important holiday, Parisians of all ages eagerly pack the streets of South Paris every year to observe a joyful procession of musicians, dancers, vibrantly colored fish and dragons and exquisite flags printed with Chinese characters. In the 3rd arrondissement of Paris, there’s the parade of Dragons, including lots of colorful, costumed characters, dancing lions and more. The Town Hall square in the 3rd arrondissement will also be offering lots of family friendly activities, exhibitions and talks. There will also be a Chinese New Year Parade out of the Belleville district, departing out of the Belleville metro station and includes the “Eye of the Dragon” opening ceremony. During the early afternoon hours the streets will be filled with martial arts, various dance performances and more. In the Town Hall square that’s located in the 11th arrondissement even more Chinese New Year activities will be taking place including Lion and Dragon dance performances.
CNY 2016 Paris also includes a festive appearance of the Carrousel du Louvre and for several days, it’s cheerfully decorated with Chinese parasols and vibrant lights. When the lighting of the Carrousel du Louvre will take place there will also be a fantastic parade, themed dances and fortune cookies are handed out, all taking place at the foot of the Louvre’s breathtaking inverted Pyramid. In addition, a Chinese New Year light parade will take place every day from 31 January to approximately the 8th of February.
